Our Facilities
HISTORY / WHO ARE WE?
Founded in 1925 by Walter McCleister, we are the only firm in Brant County to be operated continuously by the same family for over 80 years. Walter's son William became a licensed funeral director in 1939 and joined his father in 1945 after serving in the Royal Canadian Army, Artillery. In 1970 Bill's eldest son Ted graduated from the University of Western Ontario and enrolled in Humber College to begin his apprenticeship in funeral service and in 1979 became president/owner, making the third generation of continuous family operation.
FACILITIES
In 1988 McCleister Funeral Home built a new facility at 495 Park Road North close to highway 403 on a two-acre site with abundant parking. Our modern facility was built specifically as a funeral home. Many families and visitors have described it as "comfortable", "homey", "bright" with "lots of natural light and windows". These compliments indicate that we are successful in helping families feel comfortable during a difficult time.
Visitation Rooms: Large bright visitation rooms accommodate large groups or intimate gatherings.
Chapel and family room: Families who need privacy during emotionally stressful times have a choice of sitting in our adjacent family room with its own entrance and washroom, or in the chapel with their friends. Everyone has different needs.
Hospitality Suites: Our new main floor hospitality suite has been extremely well-received by families and friends. It includes tables for those who wish to be seated, and its own washrooms. You may invite a church group or lodge group or anyone you wish to provide prepared food, bring in your own or employ our caterer. Our lower level hospitality suite opens out onto an outdoor patio with tables and sometimes has been used in conjunction with receptions on the lower level. It also has its own washrooms and is used mainly during visitation when families wish a change of atmosphere.
Parking: Our large parking area accommodates large visitations and services conveniently. It also allows a separate area for immediate family members.
Offices: Private arrangement conference rooms have access to a large selection room with an extensive range of caskets and cremation containers, ceremonial rental caskets, urns and vaults.
